For Healthcare Professionals: FAQs
Yes, it is possible to overdose on magnesium. However, a very large amount of magnesium needs to be ingested to produce clinical symptoms of magnesium toxicity since there are two safety mechanisms: 1) the individual develops diarrhea with the increased intake of magnesium and 2) with normal hydration, the magnesium is relatively rapidly cleared by the kidney, assuming normal kidney function. Directions for Use: Two tablets of Mag-Ox 400 per day with food as a dietary supplement for a magnesium deficiency.
